Meningitis and Septicaemia

Meningitis is an inflammation of the lining of the brain. It is a rare but very serious illness, though if it's picked up and treated early, most people make a full recovery

Septicaemia is a form of blood poisoning which may be caused by the same germs that cause meningitis and often occurs with meningococcal meningitis

Students living together on campus are at a higher risk of catching Meningitis than other groups. Following recommendations of the Department of Health, a vaccine for Men ingitis is available for all full time first year students. If you have not yet been vaccinated, consult your University or College medical services for details of their vaccination program.
